Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernández (NM-03) announced the opening of the Las Vegas office at New Mexico Highlands University’s Hewitt Hall. The office welcomes Jennifer Sanchez as the new Field Representative for Northeast New Mexico. Sanchez was born and raised in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Before joining the team, Sanchez was an Obama Administration political appointee at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, where she served for 6 years. At NASA, she served as Executive Officer in Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs and later served as a Policy Analyst in the Chief Financial Office. When Sanchez returned to Las Vegas, she opened the Sanchez Law Firm, where she focused on estate planning until deciding to return to civil service. Prior to working for the Obama Administration, Sanchez interned at the Office of then-Congressman Ben Ray Lujan. In addition, Sanchez is a veteran of the US Air Force and served in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Noble Eagle. “It’s New Mexicans like Jennifer that work tirelessly to help our communities survive and thrive. She brings a tremendous amount of local, state, and federal knowledge that is invaluable to our team. Her career is guided by her love of service and community, and I know she will serve the beautiful communities of Las Vegas with that same love and passion,” said Leger Fernández. “I’m very happy to be home representing the people of Northern New Mexico on behalf of Congresswoman Leger Fernández. I grew up here and I care deeply about the future of this area,” said Sanchez. “I want to use my experience in Washington, D.C. to help the people of New Mexico.” As a Field Representative, Sanchez will act as a liaison to federal, district, and local agencies for the Congresswoman, answer casework correspondence, and communicate with constituents.
