Trump and his Republican ripoff have created fear, chaos, and pain for New Mexicans since day one. Click HERE to watch my recent town hall and to find out what I’m doing to fight back and what we can do together to win.

Since January 20, the Trump Administration has brought fear and confusion to New Mexicans and everyone in America. I have received hundreds of thoughtful calls and messages from constituents saying you feel trapped in a never-ending crisis with new emergencies and unprecedented chaos unfolding every single day.

I hear you and I agree. Our country doesn't have a king and our service members fight every day to stop tyrants who give billionaires power over the people around the globe. This is a crisis. Here are a few things I’m doing to fight back against Trump and Musk’s attacks on your Social Security, Medicare, Head Start and other government programs to give tax cuts to billionaires.

I voted against the disastrous Republican government funding bill. I offered 20 amendments to protect funding for rural health care, addiction recovery programs, law enforcement, and schools. I also offered one to stop Elon Musk from getting a tax break. Republicans voted down every amendment.

Trump has already slashed $1 billion from nutrition programs; this bill will give them the authority to ignore the cries of hungry children and mothers and cut these programs even deeper. It also cuts $15 billion that were destined for community projects in Republican and Democratic districts including help for local domestic violence shelters, youth community centers, and childcare centers.

  • Fighting the Republican's Bad Billionaire Budget
    • Spent nearly 30 hours continuously debating and pushing against House Republicans' “Bad Billionaire’s Budget” on the Rules Committee and the Floor of the House.
    • Democrats filed more than 520 amendments to block the cuts and call out the hidden attacks on health care, food security, and reproductive freedom. The Republican majority rejected every single one.
    • Successfully got the Republicans to remove their tax break for tanning beds instead of hospital beds.
  • Demanding a STOP to Trump's Firing of Federal Workers in New Mexico and Across the U.S.
      • Sent a letter alongside the rest of the New Mexico Congressional Delegation demanding that Trump stop his Administration's efforts to target federal employees, particularly those on probationary status.

      • Sent a letter alongside other members to President Trump, the Secretary of Interior, and the Secretary of Health and Human Services raising concerns about the legality of the administration's recent actions to fire Bureau of Indian Education, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Indian Health Service, Haskell Indian Nations University, Southwestern Polytechnic Institute and the way these actions impact the sovereignty, self-determination, and trust and treaty obligations for Indian Country.

      • Sent a letter alongside other members to President Trump and the Secretary of Agriculture demanding they Reverse Forest Service Layoffs that can affect wildfire preparedness.

      • Sent a letter alongside other members to the Acting Secretary of Education and Acting Director of the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) objecting to Elon Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE)’s work at the Department of Education, which appears to have resulted in recent orders to terminate ongoing federal education research, evaluation, statistics, and technical assistance efforts at the IES.
