Rep. Leger Fernández’s Financial Fitness Act Passes Education and Labor Committee
WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernández voted for, and the House Education and Labor Committee passed, H.R. 7309, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and H.R. 7310, the Protecting America’s Retirement Security Act (PARSA).
Today, Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernández voted for, and the House Education and Labor Committee passed, H.R. 7309, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and H.R. 7310, the Protecting America’s Retirement Security Act (PARSA). PARSA includes the Financial Fitness Act, bipartisan legislation that the congresswoman previously introduced. The reauthorization of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act significantly invests in workforce development to increase opportunities for the labor force. It also enhances equity so that the local workforce reflects the demographic diversity of the overall population. It also expands programs authorizing funding for summer and year-round subsidized employment for youth among other provisions. PARSA will help American workers, families, and employers. This bill would expand access to retirement accounts, make it easier to save for retirement, and ensure those savings are protected.
