Today, Representative Teresa Leger Fernández announced the second year of her “Valentines for Veterans” program. Students, parents, and teachers from across New Mexico’s 3rd district are encouraged to make handmade valentines to show appreciation, kindness, and love for New Mexico’s veterans. Valentines can be mailed or dropped off at the Santa Fe, Clovis, and Las Vegas District Offices. Congresswoman Leger Fernández or staff will then deliver the cards. “Last year, I worked with the New Mexico delegation to keep open four rural VA health clinics in my district. We passed record investments to strengthen the VA health care system, provide veterans job training, and finally make sure Vietnam veterans exposed to Agent Orange receive the care they need. That’s what love looks like,” said Leger Fernández. I have said time and time again that it is not enough to thank veterans for their service, we have an obligation to provide them with the services they have earned. But it is still important to take a moment and thank veterans. On February 14th, we can all show our appreciation for the sacrifices veterans have made to protect our communities. I hope you will join me.” Cards need to be received by February 11, 2023, so they can be distributed before Valentine’s Day. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call 505-428-4680.
