WASHINGTON, D.C. –  U.S. Representatives Teresa Leger Fernández, Melanie Stansbury, and Gabe Vasquez and U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich and Ben Ray Luján are announcing $10 million in federal funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to improve early childhood education and care in New Mexico. The grant is funded through the Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five (PDG B-5) program, which empowers state governments to better leverage existing federal, state and local early care and education investments. WASHINGTON —  U.S. Representative Teresa Leger Fernández voted “no” on H.R. 6126 – the Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act. House Republicans tied security assistance to Israel with cutting IRS tax enforcement funding by $14.3 billion. WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Teresa Leger Fernández and U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich and Ben Ray Luján announced the U.S. Postal Service has opened two mobile units in Chimayo, New Mexico. Earlier this year, a fire destroyed the U.S. Post Office in Chimayó leaving residents without reliable mail services. Leger Fernández, Heinrich, and Luján, wrote to United States Postal Service (USPS) Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to restore postal service to the community of Chimayó. The USPS heeded their call and has opened two mobile units that will provide limited retail services and offer local pickup of mail and small parcels. Read more »
