Leger Fernndez, Heinrich, Lujn Announce Chimay Mobile Post Office Services

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Teresa Leger Fernández and U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich and Ben Ray Luján announced the U.S. Postal Service has opened two mobile units in Chimayo, New Mexico. Earlier this year, a fire destroyed the U.S. Post Office in Chimayó leaving residents without reliable mail services. Leger Fernández, Heinrich, and Luján, wrote to United States Postal Service (USPS) Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to restore postal service to the community of Chimayó. The USPS heeded their call and has opened two mobile units that will provide limited retail services and offer local pickup of mail and small parcels.

WASHINGTON – October 5, 2023 - U.S. Representative Teresa Leger Fernández (D-N.M) and U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) introduced the Cerro Pelado Fire Assistance Act to provide financial compensation to help New Mexicans affected by the Cerro Pelado Fire caused by the U.S. Forest Service. The bill would require FEMA to establish a Cerro Pelado Fire Claims Office to compensate those who suffered personal injury, property losses, business and financial losses resulting from the Cerro Pelado Fire.
