Leger Fernández Statement on the House Continuing Resolution

Representative Teresa Leger Fernández released the following statement on the House passage of a Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the federal government.

"For weeks, extreme Republicans threatened a government shutdown if they didn’t get devastating cuts to programs Americans rely on or if they didn’t get culture war provisions Americans don’t want or need.

Today, 93 of those same extreme Republicans voted against a continuing resolution to keep our government open. I voted alongside my Democratic colleagues to put People Over Politics and keep the government open.

The Continuing Resolution we just passed is not ideal, but it maintains federal funding at current levels. It extends funding for the Farm Bill programs, Community Health Centers, and more critical programs that New Mexicans rely on. For now, it's a win for the people of New Mexico and the American people in the fight against partisan budget cuts.

We must still pass an FY24 budget that is consistent with the Fiscal Responsibility Act that includes Community Funding Projects and programs that help grow the middle class."
